The Institute of Science and Technology Austria (IST Austria) is actively searching for Professors and Assistant Professors.

Central criterion for the decision in favour of specific scientific fields is the scientific quality of the researchers.

The overall process requires a coordinated strategy of selecting the best candidates, while, at the same time, avoiding the danger of scientific isolation, by creating "clusters" of groups in related fields and intellectual links among different disciplines.

After a first scrutiny promising candidates are evaluated in detail by collecting further reviews from leading international scientists. Based both on the external scientific reviews and on the strategic considerations of our scientific committees it will be decided if a candidate will be invited for a visit to the campus and for discussions with the heads of the Institute.

The final approval to start negotiation with a candidate is given by the Professorial Committee, chaired by Olaf Kübler.

The negotiations with the candidates are led by Thomas Henzinger.
