The Campus

The Campus of IST Austria is located in Klosterneuburg,
a historical town to the northwest of Vienna. The Campus lies in the beautiful landscape of the Vienna Woods, but only 18 km away from the center of the Austrian capital.

The Campus has tremendous potential, consisting of large green areas (179,000 m²) and an additional area of 75,000 m² for spin-offs. The new lab building (completed in summer 2010) and the lecture hall blend in with the old pavilion-like edifices from the late 19th century, which were efficiently adapted for the needs of a first class research institute. Other facilities include a kindergarten, a museum (Art Brut Center), the House of Artists, a church, a sports field, a tennis court and a large pond.

The Vienna Woods act as framework and background for the campus and represent a basis for the design of the research sites. The characteristic set of trees in the striking topography will be preserved to the maximum extent possible. Research and development, studying and discovering, reflecting and relaxing – the forest, the grove, the water and the hills are the perfect surroundings for these activities.
