This morning the Austrian Federal Minister for Science and Research, Dr. Karlheinz Töchterle, the Governor of Lower Austria, Dr. Erwin Pröll,  IST President Thomas Henzinger and Dr. Claus J. Raidl presented the evaluation report for the Institute of Science and Technology Austria. An international committee composed of leading scientists – including two Nobel laureates – had evaluated IST Austria in January 2011. Their evaluation report praises the establishment and successful start of IST Austria and recommends extending the funding of the institute until 2021 in order to consolidate its place among the world-class institutions for basic research. Both Töchterle and Pröll expressed their gratitude to the panel for its thorough investigation and detailed evaluation and assured IST Austria of their future support.
